Strauss Cottage

This 1886 free-standing heritage listed terrace is a rare example of this form of building type in Northern New South Wales, being the only free-standing Victorian  terrace building in Tenterfield.

Having been unoccupied for two decades, the building was completely derelict, with the new owners undertaking a major renovation over the past four years to enhance and restore this heritage home.

Original items such as the beacon light wood stove and original claw foot bath have been restored and incorporated in to the new work. A new kitchen area has been created using the existing enclosed verandah space to look over the new gardens. All new fixtures and finishes, from the copper tapware and soft furnishings, to the scattered pendants throughout, have been procured to compliment the existing heritage fabric.
